Where Game Theory meets Game Design
Lucca, Italy | August 22 - 28, 2025
The European Game Science Lab aims to bring together both game theory and game design to enhance education for the creation of games.
We aim to transform the understanding of game creation among students and educators.
We propose an innovative Ludo-Narrative Game Design framework (LUNA) which can be used in analog, digital, and hybrid formats and that entails "Play the Game Design" activities.
The LUNA framework helps the designer not to be lost in a sea of alternatives, providing fast tracks for designing games as well as motivation to exert effort to solve new challenges in a playful context.
The LUNA framework provides game design teachers with tools and insights to speed up game design learning and practice, remaining flexible in terms of both methods and content.
The LUNA framework will be experimented for the first time in this summer school.
Games can promote diversity, address social issues, support inclusion, and promote mental health.
Games not only reflect cultural norms but also shape them. We aim to improve methods of creating games for a society in flux.
In the summer school we focus on designing games the shape society applying game theory insights and innovative game design techniques.
